Welcome to Wings Field

Wings 1930.jpg

Wings Field is one of the oldest and best-known general aviation airports in the country. Founded in 1930, Wings is located on approximately 217 acres of open space in Whitpain Township, Montgomery County. The Philadelphia Aviation Country Club, also located on the field, was founded in 1934. It's the second oldest aviation club in the country. In 1939, the club became the birthplace for the AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association), a 340,000 member organization promoting general aviation.

Currently many different people and businesses base their aircraft here at Wings Field. For example, the emergency helicopter rescue team of Pennsylvania Hospital, aka. “PennStar 1” is located on our main ramp ready to go at a moments notice. Wings has also been a strong supporter of Angel Flight. Angel Flight is a charitable non-profit organization of volunteer pilots that serve the needs of the community by facilitating free air transportation to individuals that require critical medical care from distant locations.

Every kind of pilot, from corporate/business, to the hobbiest, has found a home at Wings for the past 75 years. We work hard to make sure that tradition with continue into the future.

An aviation community is only as deep as its history, and Wings Field has taken a greater part of the past century to create a special place in the hearts of pilots
